Abstract

The article argues the necessity of innovation processes for contemporary society development. A special attention is given to consideration of social innovations as a particular type of social practices, emphasizing the significance of theory of social innovations and their “life cycles”. The author examines the types of innovations, innovation risks, explains the notion “innovation complexity” by means of non-linearity, instability, integrity and emergence, where the latter is a precondition of a new development both in nature and society. Having reviewed some of the contemporary primary sources on innovation theory, the author concluded that namely the nonlinear approach is the best way to comprehend the innovation processes. The social innovation influence on society is examined.
