Multicultural Practices in Higher Education of the USA: Experience of Theoretical and Practical Comprehension.

This article discusses the methodology of multicultural education in the United States and its philosophical and theoretical foundation. The author uses her experience of studying in the Master’s program «Women’s and Gender Studies. Multicultural Education» at the Eastern Michigan University in the framework of participation in the Fulbright program of academic exchanges. The analysis of three main directions in multicultural practices in the U.S. classrooms is conducted, which are: overcoming the relations of domination and subordination, deconstruction and destereotyping of social grand narratives, and linking the theory with praxis. The following is the outline of the possible implications of this experience in the educational system of Ukraine.
