Abstract

The article questions a definition of feminist pedagogy: what makes pedagogy feminist – whether it is feminist pedagogy or feminist pedagogy? Therefore the author considers feminist pedagogy in the contexts of Women’s Studies and education theories by pointing at their specifics and shortcomings. Feminist pedagogy developed in Women’s studies focuses on how and what to teach. However, it neglects the education theories and exists in isolation from education discourses. Feminist pedagogy advanced inside theories of education enriches feminist approach by researching on history, theory and practices of education. Although the scholars of this trend are uncritical towards Women’s Studies and ignores the critical pedagogy. Poststructural feminism suggested as an alternative to existing pedagogies is still only a prospect for future, in particular, research in elementary
and middle education.
