The Problem of «Religious Consciousness's» Peculiarity in Contemporary Philosophy

Abstract

The author has made an attempt to revise the existing stereotype of understanding the religious consciousness?s peculiarity in works on religious studies and social philosophy. Some ideas to solve the dilemma «mental/institutional» and contradiction between abstract psychologism and abstract sociologism in interpreting the religion phenomenon have been suggested. The methodological principles of monistic paradigm of interpreting the religion, that are elaborated in the article, are based on M.Mamardashvili?s and J. Lacan?s «objective» and «поп-psychological» theories of consciousness. The author applied Lacan?s thesis on symbolic figure?s - «Significant Other» - dominating role in a subject?s formation. This approach leads to the conclusion that the religious dimension of consciousness is not a product of «secondary intentionality» (belief, psychological needs), but is «objectively» built-in mechanism of identity?s formation.
