Interpretation of History in the XIX-th Century Ukrainian Philosophical and Educational Thought

Abstract

Interpretation of Greek notion «history» in the Ukrainian philosophical tradition is not adequately explored. The article presents the basic interpretations of history in the XIX-th century Ukrainian philosophical and educational thought. It is stated that since second half of the XIX-th century Ukrainian Philosophy has been considering history both as Philosophy of History and a synthesis of geopolitical, economic, ethnographic, cultural and other knowledge about other nations' life. Such approach has its philosophical grounds. But other views on history (progressist, regressist and organicist) were under question.
